If you’ve never heard or made jammy eggs, now’s the time to try. With perfectly set whites and a still soft, almost chewy yolk, they’ve become popular for a reason. Enjoy them as a snack, on a bowl of ramen noodles, or on top of a salad. Because the texture you’re aiming for is so particular, we recommend steaming the eggs to cook them gently without firming up the yolk too much. Another bonus of steaming is that the shells will nearly slip off once cooked, making them easier to peel. Cooking the eggs for 7½ minutes may seem crazy specific, but at 7 minutes the yolks are still a little runny, and at 8 minutes they are a bit too set. For the perfect jammy egg, 7½ minutes hits the mark.
